The Cause

Every three minutes, a new case of prostate cancer is diagnosed in the United States. Every 15 minutes, a man dies from it. As an extension of the Growvember movement, we’re raising awareness to help find a cure, help men and their families with the diagnosis, and support men’s health, in general.

Portions of Moustache Run proceeds go directly to organizations dedicated to prostate cancer research and support in the local communities where we host our event. For more information on the organization we support in Minneapolis, follow the link below.

The Founders

Moustache Run is put on by Flannel Athletics, a Twin Cities-based group dedicated to producing original runs for all ages and skill levels.

Josh Mohr

Co-Founder & Marketing Director

The marketing and creative brains behind Flannel Athletics, Josh has nearly a decade of experience of producing events of all kinds with Red Bull and Muscle Milk. He found his way into organizing endurance events in 2010, as a co-creator of the Muscle Milk Woodsy trail race. Always walking around with ideas in his head, Josh conceived Moustache Run in 2012.

What inspired Moustache Run?  I've rocked a 'stache in November since 2008. The idea for the Moustache Run came up as Charlie and I were hanging out in October of 2012. Eight weeks later, we blew the starting horn at the inaugural Moustache Run in front of 1,500 runners. Every year, we've grown. Pun intended.

What is your moustache spirit animal? The lochness monster. Nobody really knows if it's real.

Charlie Wasley

Co-Founder & Race Director

Charlie has over 12 years of experience producing, planning, and managing fitness events. Prior to founding Flannel Athletics, he spent over a decade at Life Time Fitness. Charlie has produced running, cycling and triathlon events at every level, including Red Bull's Wings for Life World Run, Muscle Milk Woodsy and the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon. Naturally, Charlie is an avid (and accomplished) long distance runner.

What's your favorite distance to run? Anything on a trail and the half marathon distance.

What's the toughest race you've completed? The longest I've run is a marathon, but I'd say the two toughest events I've participated in are Ironman and the Leadville 100 mountain bike races.

How many years have you rocked a moustache? The first time I grew a 'stache was for Grandma's Marathon about 10 years ago. I was going for the Prefontaine look. But I've been participating in Movemeber since 2010.
